A gynaecological check-up is generally recommended once a year. These regular appointments are important to detect changes early and ensure optimal care. Standard procedures include a Pap test, breast examination, and, if necessary, ultrasound. These measures aim to detect cervical cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and other gynaecological problems early.
In some situations, shorter intervals are advisable – for example, in the case of abnormal findings, ongoing symptoms, family history of breast or ovarian cancer, or specific risk factors such as HPV infection. During certain life stages, such as pregnancy or menopause, more frequent check-ups may also be recommended.
